At first sight POSEIDON lookslike a simple structured analogOscillator
-Filtersynthesizer withallcontrolsvisibleatonce.This gives
POSEIDON the ease of use withnearly no learning curve. The realpower is
workingunder thehood: Theoscillator isnothing lessthan theaward
winningspectral modellingsound generatorof CUBE.The variableslope
Filter is a completely newdesign based on our uniqueF-domain synthesis.
But lets go step by step
Spectral model oscillator
Select a basic sound modelfrom over hundred delivered withPOSEIDON. The
basic sound modeldetermines the soundcharacteristic you wantto start:
taking a artificialmodel like Sawtoothgives you analogstyle sounds.
Use complexmodels fromanalyzed samplesfor earthshaking ambients and
evolving pads. Analyze your own favourite samples to create new models. For
really fat sounds use the unisonomode giving you up to eightoscillators
with variable detune. The bitmapimport function let you eventake images
and convert them to soundscapes!
Time manipulation
POSEIDONgivesyou completecontrolover thetemporalevolution ofa
complex sound model: time stretching, manual time control and freezing made
simple with an unprecedented quality!
Model parameters
High level controls allow for changing the spectral shape, theharmonicity
andbalancesthe levelofresidual noiseandspectral amountofthe
oscillator model. The inherent sound movement can be blurred in time.
F-Domain Filter
Thenewlydeveloped F-Domainfilterallow fordrasticchanges inthe
resultingsoundspectrum. Fivefiltertypes includinglowpass/highpass
characteristic can be used to shape the sound. They have the usual controls
like cutoff but also very unusual ones like a variable slope ranging from 0
dB to 72 dB / Octave and independent controls for resonance andbandwidth!
This kindof controlsare onlypossible inthe contextof our F-Domain
synthesis technology. This results in an extremely clear filter soundwith
breathtaking fast modulation possibilities.
The filter type Inverseinterprets the sound modelas a "Source" anda
resonant body "Filter". The cutoffparameter shifts the filterbase -this
is the equivalent to making the instrument body smaller or bigger.
Spatializer
This simple control gives yoursound a distinctive moving distributionin
the stereo panorama. Every atomic sound particle has its own paththrough
the space !
Sound browser
The sound browser in POSEIDON gives you a fast selection of sounds based on
fivesearch criteria:sound category,timbre expressionand style.But
POSEIDONs browserdoesnt stophere. Thecurrent selectioncan also be
used to generate random new sounds fitting the selection youve made !

PoleZero filter technology
The new PoleZero Filter gives you up to 8 bandpass and 8 notch filters with
user editable frequencies and resonances.As a result the PoleZerofilter
canmodelverycomplex resonantcharacteristics,forexample acoustic
instrumentbodies, the human vocal tract or something that does notexist
in nature. Even moreyou can use twoparameter sets named FilterA and
Filter Bto interpolate between two resonant structures in realtime with
the Morphparameter.There is alsoa Cutoff parameterwhich let you
move the complete filterstructure up and downin the frequency rangein
realtime.
Analog 24 dB lowpass emulation
Thisnew filtertype emulatesthe behaviourof ananalog styleladder
filter with a filter slope of 24 dB / Octave.
